Short project description: Mid-Term Review of EDF-Funded project. Strengthening DWNP to protect Northern Parks and Reserves.

Description of the consulting services: Technical Assistance and infrastructure programme aimed at strengthening the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (DWNP) to protect northern parks and reserves, and achieving sustainable utilisation of resources outside of the parks. TA included an expert in parks and wildlife, a tourism specialist, an IT expert and a specialist in aerial surveys.

Title of consulting services provided: Wildlife Conservation in Northern Botswana, Mid-Term Review.

Description of services provided: The Company conducted a mid-term evaluation of the EDF-funded project, arranging for 4 senior-level Consultants to spend 3 weeks in Botswana, conducting workshops and meetings with the main institutional stakeholders and to inspect project sites in the protected areas. The Company also arranged for key personnel to be flown from England and Zimbabwe to have meetings with the TA team and assisted the EC with a number of sensitive community and wildlife issues. The Company prepared ToR for Phase II with a project design to tackle the major biodiversity issues, including woodland-elephant dynanics, conflicts over land-use, conflicts over Okavango Delta water, and an assessment of relevant policy in the wildlife, tourism, agricultural and social sectors.
