Short project description: Formulation of Project Document for Mole National Park / Development Plan and Institutional Strenthening of Wildlife Division, Ghana.

Description of the consulting services: Technical Assistance programmes aimed at strengthening and restructuring the Wildlife Division and developing the Mole National Park. The Wildlife Development Plan is intended to change the emphasis in the Division from policing and exclusion of local people to community participation in conservation. The three year project to develop Mole National Park consists of inputs in civil works, vehicles and equipment, communications, training and community support and national and international personnel.

Title of consulting services provided: Mission on Formulating of Project Document Mole National Park, Development Plan and Institutional Strengthening of Wildlife Division

Description of services provided: The Company identified a $US 4.2m Institutional Strengthening Programme which includes a $US 1.8m Management Support Project designed to assist the Division implement the institutional measures in the Wildlife Development Plan and become a service oriented organisation. The proposed three year Management Support Project consists of the following inputs:

• Restructuring the Wildlife Division including the support of new professional posts;
• Introducing new planning and management procedures, including the establishment of a change management group;
• Developing the human resources capacity of the Division through professional and managerial training and the introduction and implementation of a gender policy;
• Increasing private sector involvement in the wildlife sector through business, NGOs and local communities.
